A New Site is Born

I decided today as I was looking for a recipe I knew I had torn out of a recipe book recently that I wanted to cook tonight that something HAD to be done.  I’m tired of not knowing where recipes are when I want to cook them or share them with a friend or family member.  So I decided to create a new website – a recipe website. The website is really for me as a place to start storing recipes. I thought of typing in Word or such, but then contemplated computer failure, a house fire, or a natural disaster.  By putting these on my own website, I feel much better.  It will be included in my every 6 month website backup that s then stored in a safe deposit box.  And as a bonus, they will be available to the world online.  Again, the purpose is really only to create a site for me, but we’ll see where it goes and if anyone ever comes around.  It will take a while to get recipes typed and on there that’s for sure.  Just in case someone does stumble across it, each recipe I typed tonight I scheduled to post one day after this next.  As of now, I have a recipe typed and scheduled to post every day from tomorrow until August 23 and have several others typed for various days through September 11 (I didn’t want to post very similar recipes back to back so they are spread out through the 11th will still a few blank days between them that I plan to fill in tomorrow).  I’m actually excited to have a place to get all of these typed. I have years and years of recipes typed and saved as individual files and tons of pieces of paper printed from online sources and cut or torn out of newspapers and magazines.  You can’t even see my dining room table right now as  I have them all spread out, but soon they will all be neat and organized.  Can’t wait! The site you ask? It’s http://ourmagickitchen.com.  Go check it out.  Not really happy with the look, but it was the best theme I could find at the time. I found a great generic one that I really, really like. One day (or days I should say), I’ll take the time to design a header and background for it and then make the site really mine.

That’s really all I’ve accomplished today.  Besides that one of my grandmothers broke down today about 20 miles from the house so I went and picked her (and those with her up) and brought them all home. I visited my other grandmother for the second night of July 4th leftovers and to make tea and kool aid.  I’m not sure what is up with our water, but it has issues right now.  My grandmother has a whole house water filter so she hasn’t been effected by this craziness. For cooking purposes I’ve kept using our own since it gets heated/boiled, but I just couldn’t do it for drinking. So we made 2 gallons of each.

Besides that I’ve sat at this computer today and actually felt as though I was watching my to-do list grow since I was focused on Our Magic Kitchen instead of it.  *sigh*  I will do better tomorrow.
