Kitchen Remodeling
I am taking advantage of this Christmas beak and working on my kitchen. We have stopped the faucet from leaking (thank goodness because that drip, drop drives me crazy). Tomorrow we are pulling out the refrigerator to replace it, and I plan on doing some major scrubbing while that is out of the way (it’s always so nasty behind a refrigerator). And then next week I will look at our food. I bought a lot of foods for survival over the past 5 or 6 years we we’ve been threatened with hurricanes, but I need to clean out some of it as I don’t have room for new groceries. I bought a lot of food freeze dried to make sure that if we were without water and/or electricity for long … Read entire article »

School Breaks = Clean, Sort, Remove
Each break over the last year we’ve had from school, I’ve tackled another area of my house and tried to thoroughly go through everything and remove as much as I could from our house. There’s only one problem – what to do with it when I remove it. I don’t have a truck, and frequently it’s enough that either it won’t fit it my car (a large item) or there’s so much that it will … Read entire article »

Looking for Tips
I need to do some deep cleaning, I’m talking shampooing the couch and some deep carpet cleaning, and I’m looking for advice. Do you have a shampooer that you would swear by? Cleaning supplies that you think are great? I actually hate carpet. I much prefer tile or linoleum that I can mop and scrub clean. But that means that I tend to neglect my carpet and upholstery. But sometime soon I will have a grandson rolling around on my floor and climbing on my couches, and I want to be prepared. If you have any tips, I’d love to hear them. … Read entire article »

New Babies Mean Extra Cleaning
My grandson was born this past week, and he is absolutely adorable. It’s funny how sometimes the things we rarely thing of in our day to day lives change when there is a newborn in the picture. When driving today, I noticed how much more cautious I was with that precious bundle in the car, and I’m also more interested in being sure that the house is extra clean for when he comes over. It won’t be long until he’s crawling and climbing everywhere. And sometimes that cleaning needs more than just the norm. Sometimes, we need to look at sites like http://www.thesteamteam.com/ and find out more information about finding home rug cleaning machines Austin to make sure that we get down to the nitty gritty and get things clean. I’ve never … Read entire article »

Going Green with your Laundry: Herbatergent
If you’ve been following my blog, you know that over the last year, I’ve been trying to make small changes to make our family more green. I can’t join a bandwagon and make everything we do the greenest possible, but as our light bulbs have blown, I’ve switched them out with the new CFL bulbs. I’ve stopped going through as much bottled water by purchasing a filter for our faucet so we can drink tap … Read entire article »

#Win for Back to School with Wet Ones #Giveaway
When I was in school the closest to “cleaning” products that made our school supply lists were paper towels, but oh! how we teachers have wised up. We now ask for Antibacterial Wipes and Germ-X as well to stop the spread of those germs. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, “keeping hands clean is one of the best ways to prevent the spread of infection and illness.” And we want to keep … Read entire article »

Back from Panama
I’m home! And though we had rain almost every day in Panama, we still only received one day of rain here at home; however, it was a bad one. In fact, Cameron’s trampoline was ruined. Luckily that was the only damage, though. Many had a lot more. From lightening causing fires and now needing cleaning up after the disasters (http://www.thesteamteam.com/austin-restoration-services/smoke-fire.shtml) to roofs being blown off and now everyone doing do it yourself upholstery cleaning from the storms damage to their furniture. If we’d been in the Austin area a lot of us could have used The Steam Team. Lucky for me (especially since I wasn’t around to take action) the only damage we had was the trampoline. There are lots of limbs in the yard that I need to clean … Read entire article »

Letting Go: Decluttering of My Books
I’m an avid reader. As a child, it was so bad that my mom would bribe me with free and uninterrupted reading time if I would do an extra chore or whatever she was convincing me to do. I can’t ever remember not loving to read. There’s only two problems with this – I have TONS of books. They are everywhere. And I spend some $$$ on books. Cameron doesn’t enjoy reading as much as … Read entire article »

Bausch + Lomb clens
I love the new age of touch screens – from my phone to my ipod, but there’s only one problem, how do you clean them? I’ve always wondered not just about my touch screens but really all the screens on my electronics such as laptops and gaming systems as well. And this past week, I’ve had the chance to try out the Bausch + Lomb clens and I was curious as to whether or not … Read entire article »

Back to School with Seventh Generation (Giveaway)
As our children get ready to go back to school (or for the school the first time), we become more concerned about germs that we might have been during the summer when they were home. Did you know that 22 million school days are lost each year due to the common cold and flu? As many as 2.7 million bacterial are found per square inch on common school surfaces. Wow! As a parent … Read entire article »

Review: Smelly Washer
Summer is the worst time for my washer. Why? First off, we change clothes more – working my washer over more, and then there’s all the beach towels. It doesn’t matter how many times I yell say it, we still use different towels every time we swim. Oh, and those towels are wet and sometimes sit for days before I wash them. And then there’s the fact that my washer and dryer are outside in the shed. It’s hot here in Texas which means two things – 1. I put off doing laundry because I have to go out in the heat to do so and I don’t want to and 2. Because I don’t want to go outside, sometimes the clothes sit in the washer for too long. After clothes sit … Read entire article »

SUNBURST Laundry Detergent
I have to admit that there are some areas of the household where I’m a brand name snob, or I’m just loyal to a particular brand, but then there are things like laundry detergent that I have a bad habit of just picking up whichever bottle is the cheapest per ounce. Really…I just need clean clothes…We’re not picky. My only real concern is that I only use liquids. I hate powder. Then I found 2 detergents that may have just changed my shopping policy. Today I’ll share with you the first one – SunBurst. It’s the traditional Sun detergent that I’ve used many times because guess what – it is VERY AFFORDABLE, but they’ve upgraded to these wonderful scents. My bottle is Clean & Fresh. They also carry Vanilla Lavender, … Read entire article »
