Pre New Years Resolution

I didn’t want on new Year’s to start correcting my bad habits. I am back to counting calories and exercising. I have thought about joining richmond gym, but I still don’t think I will be faithful and will end up losing my money. I’m going back to school in January, and adding that on top of my already full plate is going to be STRESSFUL. I don’t know that if I wait until New Year’s to make this resolution that I could get into a good habit by the 18th (when I start school), but hopefully if I start now, it will be a good habit by then to eat better and exercise more. *sigh* The joys of growing older. … Read entire article »

The Difficulty of Healthy Eating and Busy Lives

The Difficulty of Healthy Eating and Busy Lives

I struggle greatly to eat nutritious foods – not because I don’t like nutritious foods but because my life is just so busy.  I am up at 5 each morning getting ready for the day, working out, making breakfast, folding clothes, and so many other things during the week and still leaving the house by 6:30 or 6:45 to get to work. My lunch break is THIRTY minutes. Yes. That is one of the things that I do … Read entire article »

The Diet Starts Saturday

I have been gathering the supplies and groceries needed for my diet.  I have enough recipes to go several weeks with meals I actually think both my daughter and I will enjoy (I refuse to cook 2 different meals).  I have bought some extra vitamins to make sure while I’m eating significantly less calories, my body will not suffer, and I’ve ordered appetite suppressants to help with the significant fewer calories I intend to eat (about 500-800 calories a day). I’m excited about the food. It looks yummy. I’m ok with giving up sugar, but I’m going to miss my daily chocolate milk.  I’m going to organize and actually do a meal plan as well so that we know what we are eating every day for 2 weeks. … Read entire article »

Bausch + Lomb Test Drive

Bausch + Lomb Test Drive

As a blogger I have the opportunity to try some pretty neat things from time to time, but finding out that my daughter would get to try Bausch + Lomb Soflens daily disposables.  The only thing better – would have been for me to get to try these.  :-)  Just kidding…..sorta! According to this article, many parents don’t discuss some of the most basic topics that impact their children’s self-confidence, but when my daughter found out she … Read entire article »

Summer Workout Day 7

In brief due to the loss of a family member Yesterday I decided to start the week with major force.  I walked 3 miles with the Leslie Sansone: Walk at Home: Walk Your Belly Flat (2009) dvd. It was a major workout (that I’m still feeling today). This was the first Leslie Sansone dvd I’ve had with a countdown clock and that was really neat. It was a great motivator when you wanted to quit to be able to think “only x more minutes. I can do this.” It was a “rest day” for the 20 Second Fitness Routine For breakfast, I had a bowl of Special K.  For lunch, a grilled cheeseburger.  I was at the hospital at dinner time and skipped it all together. … Read entire article »

Summer Fitness – Day 6

Summer Fitness – Day 6

Yesterday was back on track for fitness and a little better eating habits. Let’s start with my food: I started another morning with a bowl of Special K. I’d rather have eggs, but that would require a trip to the grocery store. LOL   For lunch, I had a chocolate Slim Fast shake. For a mid day snack, I had a bowl of sugar-free jello.  And we finished out uur day with dinner -  we had baked … Read entire article »

Summer Fitness – Day 5

Summer Fitness – Day 5

Yesterday was the 5th day of my new summer healthy/fitness routine. I am proud that I am sticking to the exercise, but I really blew it with the food.  Well, it could have been worse, but it wasn’t up to par. I started my day off with a bowl of Special K – so I started it doing ok, but then lunch time came around and my niece was here so I needed a quick and … Read entire article »

Review: Topricin

Review: Topricin

Anyone that has spent much time with me learns that I despise medication.  I will do everything in my power to avoid putting medication in my body.  I will go in a dark room and nap if I can’t shake a headache, use a heating pad on a backache, and if worse comes to worse, I’ll just “grin and bear it.”  I don’t go to the doctor for a cold, fever, etc (and I don’t … Read entire article »
