As a teacher, I’m amazed at some of the things my students say on a daily basis.  Seriously. It truly amazes me.  I am constantly thinking, “Did I just hear that?”  From their weekend occurrences to things that go on between their friends to their personal issues such as “their monthly times” to struggles with looking for body acne treatment, they will share everything, and it blows my mind.  I remember being a teenager, and I didn’t want my teachers to know ANYTHING!  Bu it’s different with this generation – drastically different.  How do we go back to teaching our kids that some things are simply private I wonder?  I’d love to know when and why we’ve made this transition. … Read entire article »

So we’ve made many beginnings in the past few months with my youngest daughter (age 10).  She started wearing deodorant in the spring, and over the summer started wearing pull-over bras (there’s probably a better name, but I don’t know it).  When school started we bought bras that actually snap in the back.  I’m not really liking it, but I guess it’s here – those beginning steps into womanhood.  Now I’ve noticed that it’s probably time to start talking about washing our face to avoid acne problems. I’ve been pretty fortunate all my life with a clear complexion, except during that special time of the month. That has always been when I start to have a few trouble spots.  However, I’ve realized that as I got older the same treatments I”d been using forever, weren’t effective anymore, and it is now time to find adult acne treatment options. This is uncharted territory for me but I’ve been surprised at how many options there are out there. That was nice to know that I had various choices. Now to try them out. I’ve been slowly watching my baby grow up and I’m not liking it. From buying those first undergarmets to deodorant to acne treatment – I’m just not ready for all of this. She is growing up way too fast for me.  I’m hating this…HATING IT! I’m now researching all these different types of treatments – today it was epiduo. Who knows what it will be tomorrow?
