HPV in “Older” Women

HPV in “Older” Women

It seems as though they have decreased them some, but it wasn’t long ago that you couldn’t watch television without seeing commercials about the HPV Vaccine for our young girls, ages 9 – 26. But rarely do you hear anything about HPV and women over the age of 26, but there are measures that we need to take to protect ourselves also from cervical cancer. How? Early detection. Women over the age of 30 need to … Read entire article »

Trigger Tuesday Giveaway

The Facts: 43 Million Americans Smoke Seventy percent of smokers in America want to quit, but only about five percent of smokers are successful in quitting long-term. Most people just don’t know how to quit. Surprised? I was. I know that smoking is addictive, but the fact that many people want to quit but can’t? I’m blown away. There are many tools out there for smokers who are looking to quit now, medication, the patch, etc, but there is also now an online tool: BecomeAnEX.org. BecomeAnEX.org is a free online “QUIT” plan. It is a community-based quit smoking program which provides evidence-based tools to help smokers quit. It provides a platform for smokers who want to quit to share their successes and challenges in the difficult quitting process. Become An Ex teaches smokers … Read entire article »

Review/Giveaway: Nature Made SAM-e

Everyone knows someone that they think is always in a good good, but the reality is that none of us can be in a good mood all the time. Recently, thanks to Mom Central, I was given the  chance to try a product that “promotes a healthy mood by ensuring a balance of overall healthy brain cell functions.”  What is that product? Nature Made SAM-e Complete.  I was sent a 3 month supply and just started taking them. (I’ll post again when I’ve taken them long enough to fill the results, but wanted to post now because THERE’S A CONTEST INVOLVED!).  In just the few days (6 to be exact) that I’ve started taking them, I’ve been trying to notice if I feel any different yet. What are the benefits of SAM-e? … Read entire article »

Giveaway to Promote Movement!

May was Arthritis Month, but in reality this is something we should be aware of all year long. The Arthritis Foundation and the Ad Council’s are launching a new campaign to create public awareness of easy and fun steps everyone can take to prevent and decrease the pain and disability of osteoarthritis.  Osteoarthritis dates back to the Ice Age and now some 27 million Americans live with it. But even after all those years, there is no cure and no definitive cause has been discovered. But you can make moves to make the pain and uncomfortableness more manageable. How? MOVE! Yes.  That’s the main objective of the new campaign. You’ve probably seen one of the commercials. This is my favorite: If you (or anyone you know) … Read entire article »

Le Boot Camp

A very popular thought and so topic around here is my weight and health. I’m always wanting to find a way to be healthier (and in turn hope to lose a few pounds).  One interesting service that I am anxious to try out is LeBootCamp. While this program has been super popular in Europe, it is only just now taking hold in the United States. What is LeBootCamp? LeBootCamp is a program about healthy lifestyle adjustments that do not demand members restrict their diet or count points/calories. This already sounds good to me. I have never been good at only eating a certain thing or counting points or calories. It puts a team of personal trainers, nutritionists, medical researchers and motivational life coaches at your fingertips with meal plans, fitness routines … Read entire article »

A Touchy Subject

I’ve figured out – some women are happy to talk about their weight loss stories, others are sensitive and would rather avoid talks of scales, clinicallix, exercise, or whatever they are doing (or not doing). I’ve never had a problem sharing any and all of my health or diet woes, but I recently made a comment about a friend of a friend looking as though she had lost weight when she took offense.  I thought it was a compliment..she did not like it.  I’m not sure how she interpreted it, but I now I wonder. Maybe I’ll hold back my compliments in the future? … Read entire article »

A Perfect Example

As I flip over to my email between postings, I get a perfect example of the why send this to me?  How interesting it was that I was just then writing the post about not using anything on my face when I get an email for the best acne treatment? No acne here and I don’t treat anything.  I use hot water and a wash rag…that’s it folks.  But thank you for thinking of me. … Read entire article »

The Years Showing?

I’ve never been one to take care of my skin.  I hide my face in shame, but I’ve never been good about washing my face. I take a shower every morning..that’s when I wash my face, but I have to admit I think I’m start to show that I’m getting older, and I’m wondering if I need to start using anti aging skin products. And use them on a regular basis – ugh!  I hate of thinking of doing such, but if I do, I have to start looking at these products and deciding if the price matters?  Does any of it really help?  Just one more thing to add to my to do list.  … Read entire article »

Boil Water Notice

Since we came back to school from the holidays, our community has been under multiple boil water notices. The school is providing us with BOTTLED water. – yes a bottle of water for every student and teacher and then the big containers for refills – DAILY! Can you imagine how expensive that must be?  I keep thinking that as much as we are spending lately on bottled water, we might should look into some type of filtration method (such as the PureClean ukf7003axx) so that we don’t have to worry about all the issues that our community has with water. This is such a headache and that seems like such an easy fix (if it would work for that). Luckily I’m on a separate water company at home and haven’t … Read entire article »

Working and Exercise is WORKING!

In the last 2 weeks, I’ve lost 6 pounds.  I’m so excited.  The only down side to me routine….I’m exhausted ALL THE TIME at home so I’m getting little blogging and lesson plans done.   Today I took the day “off.”  Why? Because I had a teacher workshop to go to.  That’s kind of sad when going to a workshop in the summer is a day off, huh?  LOL  While I should have been paying attention today I was going through emails as they too had piled up OF COURSE and I had one on Stimerex ES. I had never heard of it so I went to check it out.  I usually am so tempted and interested in reading about any diet supplement, but this time even though I read a … Read entire article »
