The True Story of Puss ‘N Boots
While I remember my parents reading me fairy tales growing up, I don’t think many children today can say that. I have to admit that even reading to my own daughter, there was such a large selection of books that a lot of the classics were overlooked. One overlooked fairy tale is that of Puss N Boots. When I mentioned that we were receiving The True Story of Puss ‘N Boots, my daughter was really excited. … Read entire article »

Dog Days of Summer
On our channel lineup there is really only one channel that I feel is appropriate for children all the time – that’s PBS Kids. All the other channels may have some programming appropriate for everyone in the family, but they also have some that aren’t. When my youngest daughter was really small, I actually made it where every channel except PBS Kids required a password so that she didn’t stumble upon some type of entertainment … Read entire article »

Makeover Wish?
I have been hired by Warner Bros. WBWord division to promote Supernatural: The Anime Series on DVD/Blu-Ray. This week’s topic is: In order for the creators of the show to develop a new animated world, some characters had to go through a makeover to fit the feel of the new environments. If you could makeover yourself in order to explore new situations, who would you make yourself into and where would you explore? I would make myself … Read entire article »

Review & Giveaway: Rock N Learn Sight Words
As a mom and teacher, I love to see kids excited about learning. One thing kids love to do is watch television. If you can find television shows that kids connect with and learn at the same time, you have found a winner, and the Rock N Learn dvds are winners. In my experience when you can put lessons to catchy tunes, students will remember so much more, and Rock N Learn seems to have … Read entire article »

Review/Giveaway: Penguins of Madagascar
During the school year we try to have a Family Movie Night at least once a week (though sometimes it ends up being once every 2 weeks when life is so busy), but during the summer, we have 2 or 3 movie nights a week. It’s nice knowing that we can stay up late, cuddle and play while we watch a movie, and then sleep in the next morning if we stayed up too late. When I received an email from MomSpark that I could sign up to receive a copy of the new DVD, The Penguins of Madagascar Operation: DVD Premier, my daughter was literally playing her Madagascar Game Cube game. When she sorted out the Game Cube games a few months ago (as we no play them on the … Read entire article »

31 Days of Oscars
If you like award winning movies – from the old to the new – now is the time to become a regular Turner Classic Movie fan. Currently TCM is running their 31 Days of Oscar. (This would be a great tim to DVR some favorites). The series started February 1st and will end March 3rd. TCM chose a really cute theme this year called “TCM University.” The movies are categorized by Departments and Course Offerings. How cool is that? Today’s subject – my favorite – ENGLISH….Today you can view, Intro to Charles Dickens, Shakespeare Tragedies, and British Novelists … Read entire article »

Inkheart
Have you read this book? I’ve read it myself several times as I’ve read it with groups of students. I’m so excited to know that a movie is now coming out about this book. This is as exciting to me as many were about the Twilight movie. And I’m even more excited to learn that Brenden Fraser will be the star of Inkheart. I have loved his performance for many years. I love each of the Mummy movies, but I think I first became a Fraser fan in 1993 when he played in Son In Law. We actually have that movie on DVD and I stil pull it out and watch it from time to time. Cameron loves to watch him as George of the Jungle. If … Read entire article »

Delgo: In Theaters December 12
Have you heard of this movie? I had not until I got a message from Team Mom. Trusting the instincts of this wonderful organization, I went straight over to the Delgo website to watch the preview and get more information. I have to admit that this first movie from Fathom Studios has my attention. In fact, I’ve already gone to see which theater in my area will in fact be showing Delgo. Not heard of this movie either? Let me start by giving you just a few of the voices you’ll hear if you watch this movie: Freddie Prinze Jr Val Kilmer Michael Clarke Duncan Jennifer Love Hewitt Anne Bancroft (in her last performance) Chris Kattan Lou Gossett Jr. Kelly Ripa Burt Reynolds Sally Kellerman While you may not recognize all of these movies, I think all … Read entire article »

Beverly Hills Chihuahua
We went and watched Beverly Hills Chihuahua today after Cameron’s softball game. I have to admit that overall I’ve not been impressed with the previews, but Cameron has been so off we went. I was hopeful since it was Disney and the voices were several actors I knew and loved, but still doubtful. Because my dad raises chihuahuas (and Cameron loves them), she was totally siked! She actually wanted to try to sneak a puppy or two into the theater. Overall, I was not overly impressed, and didn’t think this movie held the “Disney image” to me that I usually feel when watching a Disney movie; however, I was not the intended audience and Cameron loved the movie as much as she did the preview. She … Read entire article »
