Holiday Recommendation: Endangerables CD

Holiday Recommendation: Endangerables CD

I have to admit that I did a good job when teaching my daughter that we don’t always have to eat at the fast food restaurants where you get a toy. There are times when she really wants a particular toy, but for the most part she’ll choose what I call “real” restaurants when given a choice where you sit down and are given a menu to select from. One of her favorite places to eat … Read entire article »

Star Rock for Kids – Jammin’ Music

Star Rock for Kids – Jammin’ Music

It’s no wonder that the Kidz Bopz cds have been so popular. My daughter loves to hear kids sing.  I’m sure most young girls are a lot like her, and also love to hear new young talent. Star Rock for Kids! is her newest cd that I always hear booming from her room.  The cd features nine children between the ages of 7 and 17 singing popular songs of the past and present.  These are some … Read entire article »

Fun Music: Making Silly Faces

Fun Music: Making Silly Faces

“The combination of wit, intelligence, skilled instrumentation and a genuine understanding of what children are all about put this at the top of our list.” – Lahri Bond, 2010 Parents’ Choice® Gold Award review of In The Nick of Time’s People, Places & Things My daughter received Coconut Groove, one of Nick Deysher (who records and performs as In The Nick of Time)’s cds, a couple years ago, and we literally wore it out. ….Featuring Nora Jones

….Featuring Nora Jones

Thanks to One2One Network, I received the new Nora Jones cd to listen to and review. The CD is packed with 18 songs.  I’ve only heard a few Nora Jones songs in the past.  I liked them, but wasn’t really what you call a fan.  That may just be different now. She has an amazing voice, and the album is a great mixture of slow songs and upbeat songs. The album is called …Featuring because each … Read entire article »

George & Reba = BEST CONCERT IN A LONG TIME!!!

As kind of a gift to myself for sitting through the Jonas Brothers, I went to see George and Reba last week in Bossier City and it was the best concert I’ve been to in a long time. I had seen George before, but I’d never seen Reba (or Lee Ann Womack, the opening act). All were really good, but Reba was really impressive for the first time I’d seen her. I wasn’t surprised that she was so great, but still it was AMAZING to actually see her in person! George was superb too, but of course, I already knew that since I’d seen him before. While I tend to like the show of lights and fireworks and such, it was also great to see a set of artists … Read entire article »

Jonas Brother Concert = GREAT SHOW

Two weekends ago I took my daughter to see the Jonas Brothers and Demi Lovato in their Camp Rock 2 tour at the Woodlands in Houston, Texas, and was really surprised at how much I enjoyed the show.  While the music is not necessarily my favorite type, I was impressed at the overall show and the entertainment. From huge screens with great images, great music, and lots of fire and such.  I thoroughly enjoyed the show. The opening was a little much for me with the “Camp Rock Friends” and to be honest, I wasn’t as impressed with Demi Lovato as I thought I would be, but I really, really enjoyed the Jonas Brothers aspect of the concert.  Their music was great – great voices and great music.  While each has … Read entire article »

Redesign Complete (Mostly)

Well it took longer than I expected, but I think I really like where the blog is heading.  What do you think of the redesign?  Overall today has been a pretty good day – redesign virtually complete, and I scored my daughter’s birthday present (She turns 10 next week).  I hope I’m not setting myself up for a “tradition.”  Last year I bought her Taylor Swift tickets. This year I ordered her Jonas Brothers/Demi Lovato tickets. We go next month. She’s going to be so excited! I can’t wait to tell her.  Her birthday is next Tuesday, and we’re having her birthday part next Saturday.  Now I have to decide whether or not to give them to her Tuesday or Saturday. I didn’t get the reviews/giveaways posted today … Read entire article »

Review: One World, One Love

He has sold more than 53 million records, won multiple Grammies for Best Male Vocalist, has a star on Hollywood’s Walk of Fame, and won six American Music Awards.  Who is he? Michael Bolton.  And I received his new album, One World, One Love. I honestly had not thought of Michael Bolton in years.  I can remember knowing many Michael Bolton songs in the 90s, but it seems somewhere around there, my taste turned more to country and I knew less and less of anything but that. As I pushed One World, One Love into my computer and put on headphones, I was hopeful though. I did like Michael Bolton once upon a time. I even had some of those songs on my iPod. And I was not disappointed. I didn’t … Read entire article »

Contest: Wizards of Waverly Place Soundtrack

I was recently sent a copy of the new CD, Wizards of Waverly Place Soundtrack, and I have to admit that I was as anxious as Cameron was I think for it to arrive.  I have loved hearing Selena Gomez sing Magic on the Disney Channel.  The day the CD arrived, Cameron ran off to her room with it and put it in her DVD player and sang and danced (and had it turned up loud enough that I also listened in the living room at the same time).  The next time we got in the car, it was put in the CD changer in the car, and it hasn’t left since. We have 3 CD’s in there right now – Wizards, Hannah Montana, and Taylor Swift. My dad rode with … Read entire article »
