Beating the Heat with Gatorade
Football is B-I-G here in East Texas. Practice started a couple weeks ago during the day and continues through November for those lucky enough to be in the finals. I’m not sure if you watch the weather for us here in East Texas, but it is H-O-T! I think it was 101 today after school when I was driving home. That’s not heat index baby, that’s actual thermostat temperature! ONE HUNDRED ONE! In addition to … Read entire article »

We recently decided to go out and get a snack, and ended up at our local Dairy Queen (ok, so that’s really the only place to go in our town, but don’t tell anyone). We decided we wanted more than a snack so the 3 of us ordered a 6 piece chicken strip meal to share. This left us with room for desserts so we all go our favorite flavor Blizzard – mini size!! Below you … Read entire article »

A New Site is Born
I decided today as I was looking for a recipe I knew I had torn out of a recipe book recently that I wanted to cook tonight that something HAD to be done. I’m tired of not knowing where recipes are when I want to cook them or share them with a friend or family member. So I decided to create a new website – a recipe website. The website is really for me as a place to start storing recipes. I thought of typing in Word or such, but then contemplated computer failure, a house fire, or a natural disaster. By putting these on my own website, I feel much better. It will be included in my every 6 month website backup that s then stored in a safe … Read entire article »

Review: Some Old Favorites With a Healthy Twist
We love our pancakes, waffles, and pasta so when I received a sample of two new Atkins’ products from Mom Central: Penne Pasta and All Purpose Baking Mix, I thought what a lucky choice for us to get to review. I have to admit to being one of those people with good intentions when it comes to our family diet, but then reality sets in, life gets busy, and we get back into our old habits. I will also try healthy or generic brands without hesitation, but if I can taste the difference, I frequently go immediately back to the brands I have bought for years. So anytime I can find a way to incorporate healthy without really making any changes to our routine and without noticing a taste … Read entire article »

Review & Giveaway: MolliCoolz Shakers
This summer I banned our local ice cream/hamburger shop. It’s a national chain and I won’t say any names, but I grew up eating there once a week with my grandfather. It’s always been a favorite, but lately it seems like every time we go, their prices have increased. The last time I went, I was home alone and feeling lazy so I called them up and ordered a chicken strip basket (a regular 4 piece with no drink or ice cream). I drove to town, pulled through the drive thru and was almost in complete shock when the teenager wanted EIGHT BUCKS! ok…so their food is good, but IT’S NOT THAT GOOD! I’ve done ok without going by every couple weeks, but Cameron has been missing her ice cream … Read entire article »
