The advantages of Retail POS Systems

Investing into a Point of Sale System for your retail store can be pricey, but well worth it. Retail POS Systems can help you monitor your inventory more efficiently and store sales reports for tax purposes at the end of the year. They are also well known for ringing customers, customer loyalty programs, in-house accounts and processing gift cards. A Gift Shop POS System features the same user friendly Point of Sale software which can be found on Microsoft POS Systems. By investing in the right POS System your business will be on the right track for success. Any type of retail store whether it is a clothing store or a shoe store will benefit greatly with this technology. Guest Post by Mike Sims … Read entire article »

How Much Is Your Phone Bill?

This post brought to you by Straight Talk. All opinions are 100% mine. It seems that my cell phone bill just keeps going up and up.  Every time I turn around, it’s a little bit more.  And in this economic time, I don’t like it one bit!   I usually am able to make decent money in the summer, and this money helps me make ends meet the rest of the year and provides for vacations and the “extras” that are almost impossible to pay for with one income; But this year, the drought hurt!  And it hurt bad! There will be no winter vacation for us this year so I’m looking for ways to cut our expenses every chance I have, and the cell phone bill is one of the … Read entire article »

The A-B-C’s of School Physicals

Dr. Barbara Bellar, a family medicine physician practicing at MetroSouth Health Center at Blue Island, in Blue Island, Illinois, explains that while a school physical is only required three times during a student’s school career, it is important to bring a child in each year. “As children grow, issues change and the physical exam is a great time to check in with them about things they may not be comfortable speaking with their parents about.” She also recommends bringing a child in at the same time each year which can make it easier to remember when to schedule them. Dr. Bellar wants parents to be sure that the following are included in a school or physical: * Medical history * Height and weight * Temperature * Pulse, blood pressure * Eye and ear check * Heart and … Read entire article »

Keeping Your Teen Safe on the Road

As the summer ends and the school year approaches, the team at Michelin, leading tire company offers the following tips to ensure a safer driving experience for teen drivers: · Tire pressure – Proper inflation is essential for the performance and longevity of the tire. It’s also essential for the ride quality and safety of your vehicle. Your tires carry the entire weight of your vehicle. They cannot do their job properly when underinflated or overinflated. Operating your tires underinflated can also result in a tire failure. Be sure to check your tire pressure once a month. The tire is the only part of the vehicle touching the ground, which makes it imperative to our safety. · Minimize Oversteer: When the rear tires lose traction before the front, your vehicle can start … Read entire article »

Six Tips for Families to Save money

Compiled by Shooger 1. Go Green. Have your family go green and save money with CFL bulbs. They cost less and last longer, saving you money. Also, use dishes instead of disposable paper plates, cups and plastic silverware. 2. Get rid of the House Phone. Who calls your house phone, except telemarketers who ignore the “do not call” list? Cancel it and save money by erasing that extra bill. 3. Brown Bag it. Follow your kids’ lead and take your lunch to work. A week’s worth of a typical $7 lunch is about $35. A week’s worth of bread and lunchmeat is about $7. That means $35 could buy you a week of lunch, or 5 weeks’ worth! 4. 1 Day a week rule. Have your family chose one day a week to go … Read entire article »

It’s in the Water..

I’ve always heard that about having babies, and we have lots of that going on around here as well, but remember when I told you that the first day of school, we found out one of my friends had a brand new Since1910.com ring? Today I got a call from an old friend to find out that she had recently gotten engaged as well.  So it seems that if my friends aren’t having babies, they are getting married.  This means lots and lots of showers. (and I’m not a shower fan!…lol) But I’m just thinking right now that I need both cases of water to skip me over. I’m not ready for either of these things in my hectic life (though I’m super happy with you guys for these major … Read entire article »

We Survived

The students and teachers all survived our first day together, and the school year is officially on its way now. The first week always seems like such long days as everyone adjusts to the new hours, and this year is not an exception. As exciting as today was, I am still exhausted! And it’s not even 9:00.  Ugh! The best part of the day was lunch, and no, not because it was lunch, but because I found out one of my coworkers was getting married, and I’m so excited for her.  She was on cloud 9. Her boyfriend proposed over the weekend with a beautiful engagement ring he bought at Since1910.com (and it was BEAUTIFUL!) Other than that, I really enjoyed my web technologies class (duh!, right?). I have a small class … Read entire article »

Tomorrow’s the Day

School starts back for our kiddos here in most of Texas public schools, and I’m so excited. There’s always a part of me that is sad summer vacation is over, but I’m also so excited to see the kids, and this year is no exception. I won’t sleep a wink tonight, and it’s all ok. This year will be a little different. One of my best friends moved over the summer and won’t be teaching with me.  I still haven’t really accepted that.  Just in this last week when it was just us teachers, and there were so many times when I wanted to smile at her, laugh with her, or tell her something. But then I’d remember helping her pack her stuff this summer in some old Chem-Dry boxes, and … Read entire article »

Lesson Planning is So Time Consuming

As school is going back into session, I’m working frantically to get everything ready. My main priority is trying to organize as many lesson plans as possible. For most of my classes now, I can do my plans in my head, but I have two new classes this year that are going to take some major work – freshman English (I’ve taught before but it’s been years) and an advanced business management class that is going to really stretch my knowledge. I have to introduce so many concepts in this course from marketing and finance to business analytics.  It’s going to be a fun course, and I’ve seen the roster, and I have a great set of students, but it’s still going to work me overtime.  Just a couple more … Read entire article »
