Lesson Planning is So Time Consuming
As school is going back into session, I’m working frantically to get everything ready. My main priority is trying to organize as many lesson plans as possible. For most of my classes now, I can do my plans in my head, but I have two new classes this year that are going to take some major work – freshman English (I’ve taught before but it’s been years) and an advanced business management class that is going to really stretch my knowledge. I have to introduce so many concepts in this course from marketing and finance to business analytics. It’s going to be a fun course, and I’ve seen the roster, and I have a great set of students, but it’s still going to work me overtime. Just a couple more … Read entire article »

H-O-T Hot
I know it’s hot every summer. I actually prefer the hot to the cold, but this summer seems to be even hotter than ever. It might just be the drought. An occasional summer rain cools things off now and then, and we have basically gotten no rain at all. It’s depressing, really really depressing. They are talking about the possibility right now of rolling blackouts, and I do not want to even think about no electricity in this heat. I haven’t turned off my air conditioner in days, and this current heat wave still has me sweating in my house every evening when it has been over 100 degrees for hours that day. I’m thinking that maybe I need to look at generac generators so that if we did have an electricity … Read entire article »

Home and Back to Normal?
I am back from my conference in Austin and will announce the winner in the Energizer contest tomorrow as well as begin posting reviews. I also have a giveaway in the works that should be posted soon. I can’t believe I didn’t get home until 1:00 in the morning. I feel so old because I can’t remember the last time I stayed out that late. It was nice to spend time with educators with the same values as mine though. We had some great conversations. This relaxation and clearing of the mind along with being around a group of people who share such a similar passion for education as I do seemed to open up my creative juices as well. I now have a great plan for all the Beads … Read entire article »

Blissfull Silence Interupted
Tonight was to be my blissfully all alone silent night. No tv, no blaring music, no need to conversate – just me and NOTHING! And then what did I do? Stayed WAY TOO long in the pool and my silence is now painful. I can’t remember the last time I was burnt this bad – and that says a lot because I bale hay every summer in this lovely Texas heat, but this is worst. I honestly thought I was watching myself and the time, but apparently lost track of both somewhere. I am slathering in the After Sun Aloe stuff and not enjoying my night to myself. In fact, just holding this laptop on my lap is borderline painful. *sigh* This is my luck. On a positive note, I think … Read entire article »

Software Shopping
I’ve been in an odd mood lately it seems. I’ve bought several difference pieces of software in the last month or so. I’ve purchased a few games, a typing program, a simple photo editing program, and scanning software. And if that’s not enough, I’ve been browsing online today at some ring tone making programs. Does anyone have any favorite software that they would hate to live without? I might as well look at it while I’m browsing. … Read entire article »

Lots of Posts, Lots to Go
Yep, in the catching up process there will sometimes be lots of posts at a time, but they will slowly get longer and more in depth as I catch up. So yes, there will be lots of posts at first, but this is the final one for the night. I’ve chattered enough tonight about some of life’s changes including our SUPER vacation that we’ll be on in 100 days, done a little ranting about the random contacts I have from companies that obviously don’t know me (like strivectin) and asked for your advice. So with that I have some grading and lesson plans to do and then want to get a decent night’s sleep as it will be a long week. … Read entire article »

What’s Coming – (And What’s Not)
So I’ve already had an email from one loyal reader (hey…thanks to just these few posts I know of 2 – one that emailed, one that commented…LOVED YA’LL) asking what reviews were going to be coming up so I thought I’d share that I have an adult product review half written, an awesome computer lap desk, and some super Spelling computer software. And what have I turned down lately? Some toys that I knew Cameron would have no interest in, there won’t be any murad skin care reviews or any on the discounts from various vendors (that I didn’t think were big discounts). So stay tuned for those few that I’ve started and know that you won’t see the others. … Read entire article »

Reviewers?
As I enter back into the review world, I intend to become much more selective. Will it make for less readers? Maybe, but I’m pretty sure my readership is pretty low right now as I have been inactive for so long. What it will do though is allow me to focus and bring you more thorough reviews. There was a time when I took every review (probably why I reached a burnout of this is not fun anymore and backed off to begin with), and this time plan to come back slow and selectively. Since I don’t use acne products, I won’t accept (even if I would try it) things like acnefree reviews as I wouldn’t have a base knowledge to compare the review to. So as I start seeking … Read entire article »

Reviews – Who Reads? Who Writes?
At one time I was really active with writing reviews, but as life got crazy and something had to give, I started writing less and less until now I have several products that still need good reviews written, and I will do them. I keep these products and paperwork set aside until I do get back into the swing of things, but I also love to read other people’s reviews. I like to know what people think – who uses it in their house, and how do they use it? And thanks to the Internet, there are now reviews out there from everything from shoe reviews to colonix review reviews. You can find everything reviewed now days. My favorite are the As Seen on TV products. I am a sucker … Read entire article »

What Were You Thinking?
This is what I wonder at all the random phone calls, snail mail, and emails that have NOTHING to do with my life. Why would you send me things for enhancements on body parts that I don’t have? Or send me catalogs for equestrian apparel when I don’t own a horse? I think that money could be spent so much more efficiently. You give your email or mailing address to one or two people and then EVERYONE starts contacting you about everything! Hello People!!! Think! … Read entire article »

Reliable Reviews
How do you know when you’ve found a reliable review? One that is written by a company employee? Or a paid review that is influenced by money or free samples? This has been a big issue when looking at blog reviews lately, but I have to admit that I’m more leery of reviews on sites where everyone is posting their reviews for a product in one place. I always wonder how many are true reviews and how many are one person posting many reviews or even a company having several of their employees posting reviews. On blog reviews, I tend to find that I feel a connection to the blogger and find them more trustworthy. I was looking at reviews for Acnepril when I really got to thinking about this. … Read entire article »
