This is the seventh post in the series Adventure in Florida. You will find links to previous posts at the end of this document. My last adventure in Orlando was a Brandcation bonus. Not everyone was able to participate, and we broke into small groups. Thanks to Disney we were given one day passes and able to experience Disney World. Disney was even generous enough to make the tickets park hoppers. Kate and I … Read entire article »

Adventure in Florida: Sleuth’s Mystery Dinner

This is my fourth installment about my adventures in Florida at an event called Brandcation.  To read more about my experience, please check out previous posts that are linked to at the end of this post. Adventures in Florida: Boggy Creek Airboats

This is the third installment of my Brandcation adventures in Florida. Links to previous posts are at the end of this article. On our second morning it was really cold for Florida (and this Texan was FREEZING!), but that did not deter us as we headed out for our airboat rides. Again I scored and was placed in the first group, and eighteen of us loaded into our boat and snuggled under blankets that Boggy Creek was thoughtful enough to remember and provide for us. The first part of the trip around the lake included lots of stops while our guide pointed out interesting plants and animals around the lake. After cruising through most of the lake slowly, we began our return back to dock. This was not a slow ride … Read entire article »

Adventures in Florida: Florida EcoSafaris

This is the second installment in a series about my Brandcation Adventure in Florida.  To read about our awesome accommodations provided by Global Resort Homes, check out my first post in the series. Our first adventure filled me with an excited nervousness – we went ziplining at Florida Ecosafaris. We arrived and were shepherded into the main house which included a store and restaurant. We were weighed (very discreetly) and divided into three groups, and I was in the first group! (Relief! Less time to get nervous!) We loaded into a big safari vehicle with our driver and headed out across the ranch where we saw horses and cows along the way. We then completed a brief tour of various animals (many being nurtured after being in bad situations) including a female East … Read entire article »

Adventure in Florida: Orlando Vacation Homes

It’s hard to week that just a little over a week ago I was in Florida for a gathering of about 30 women bloggers for an adventure called Brandcation.  This is the first in a series of my adventures over that weekend. For the time that we were in Florida, we had amazing homes away from home thanks to Global Resort Homes. Our group had four different two-story homes that provided so many more luxuries than the traditional hotel room you experience on vacations or conferences. The home that I stayed in had a living room/dining room area, a family room, kitchen, game room, laundry room, 2 bedrooms and a bathroom downstairs. Upstairs there were 2 master bedrooms that had their own private bathrooms as well as two seperate bedrooms and another … Read entire article »

156,000 Miles

Last time I checked, I think my mileage was at about 156,000 miles.  I have no intention of buying a new car right now *knock on wood* so I am now trying to develop a plan to get my car another 100,000 miles.  However, as a single mom I am concerned with if it does have a failure while we are out and about, what will we do? (especially if we are far from home or it’s late at night)  The only solution I know is to start looking at roadside assistance clubs.  That way we have a number to call to get assistance and hopefully other perks like rental (or discounts on rentals) – just help.  That is the only thing that makes me seriously consider purchasing a new … Read entire article »

Vacation Calls To Me

We are self professed Disney fans, but sometimes I dream of a different type of vacation than early mornings, racing through the parks, and waiting in long lines.  Sometimes I dream of a more relaxed, laid back family vacation – an opportunity to spend time with each other, especially now that my oldest daughter is six hours away at college. One of our ideas is an Outer Banks rental such as the Seahawk Vacation Home. This home includes a view of the ocean, an outdoor pool area, five bedrooms including two master bedrooms, a game room, a hot tub, 10 televisions, and so much more.  I mean this is a vacation that could not only include myself and my daughters, but also a time for all of my family to relax … Read entire article »

Keeping My Ride Alive Giveaway

Keeping My Ride Alive Giveaway

According to a recent survey conducted by Jiffy Lube International, more than half of U.S. drivers hope to have more than 150,000 miles on their vehicle before replacing it with a new one, and more than a quarter are hoping to clock 250,000 miles or more. In addition, nearly one in five Americans believe the most important thing when having their oil changed is being able to have multiple services performed in a single visit, and … Read entire article »
