Lessons Learned at Blogher So far

Ok…so after just a half day or so at Blogher, I’ve alraedy learned a few lessons that I want to share to those that will go to future Bloghers.

Be sure to literally bring as many suitcases (and big ones) as you can!  There is so much SWAG it’s not even funny. I’m already wondering how I’ll pack everything back to go home.

Sharing rooms? Know you only need to pay a small amount for the room? Make sure someone has a credit card with a high enough balance to cover the entire bill at checkin.  Even if you are paying cash at checkout or whatever, they will still scan (and maybe put a hold) someone’s card as a guarantee.

Which leads me to if you are flying, I’d fly Southwest so that you can have 2 checked 50 pound bags.  I think everyone else is charging for suitcases now.

Bring pants and a long sleeve shirt – these rooms are cold.

Don’t depend on Internet access.  This hotel (the Sheraton) wasn’t ready for 1400 Internet junkies that’s for sure!  The Internet access is SUCKING! If you have the option, sign up for the Internet cards through your cell phone providers if you want to know you will have Internet. (Or plan to hang out in lobby areas to get access)

Bring some dressy and some casual clothes. The parties are pretty formal (if you want them to be)….while they are formal, there are people here in casual clothes – just be sure that you’ll be comfortable in casual/comfy clothes while others are dressed to the nines in clothes suitable to be going on with me all dressed up in their tuxedo shirts and such.

I’ll keep posting what I learn as I have time!
