Love in a Nutshell

One of my favorite authors of all time is Janet Evanovich.  I think I’ve read everything she’s written. If not, I’ve read everything I’ve had the chance to get my hands on – some of them I’ve read more than once.

On January 3, she has a new book, Love in a Nutshell, coming out that she cowrote with Dorien Kelly.  The book will also be available in audio format where it is read by Lorelei King.

Novel Synopsis (from Amazon)

Kate Appleton needs a job. Her husband has left her, she’s been fired from her position as a magazine editor, and the only place she wants to go is to her parents’ summer house, The Nutshell, in Keene’s Harbor, Michigan. Kate’s plan is to turn The Nutshell into a Bed and Breakfast. Problem is, she needs cash, and the only job she can land is less than savory.

Matt Culhane wants Kate to spy on his brewery employees. Someone has been sabotaging his company, and Kate is just new enough in town that she can insert herself into Culhane’s business and snoop around for him. If Kate finds the culprit, Matt will pay her a $20,000 bonus. Needless to say, Kate is highly motivated. But several problems present themselves. Kate despises beer. No one seems to trust her. And she is falling hard for her boss.

Can these two smoke out a saboteur, save Kate’s family home, and keep a killer from closing in…all while resisting their undeniable attraction to one another? Filled with humor, heart, and loveable characters, Love in a Nutshell is delicious fun.

About the Authors/Reader

Janet Evanovich is the #1 bestselling author of the Stephanie Plum novels, Between the Numbers novels, Wicket Appetite, and How I Write. She lives in Florida and has a website and www.evanovich.com.

Dorien Kelly lives in Michigan with one of more of her three children, a couple of random and crazy rescue dogs, and a very spoiled West Highland White Terrier who is under the mistaken impression that he runs the whole pack. Her website is www.dorienkelly.com.

Lorelei King, who voices all of Janet Evanovich’s renowned bestsellers, wasorn in Pennsylvania and raised in Los Angeles. Lorelei now makes her home in London, where she lives with her husband, actor Vincent Marzello. You can find more information about Lorlei at http://loreleiking.com/.

My Review

I do not listen to very many books, but I loved the voice of Lorelei King.  She reads with the perfect speed and enunciation to make listening entertaining.  Not surprisingly the entire story was great. It reminded me a lot of the “full” series she wrote with Charlotte Hughes. They have the perfect amount of romance and lots of fun.  Hughes and Kelly do the perfect job of making their work laugh out loud funny (which is what I love in a book – to escape the real world and enjoy my time in the author’s world).

Purchasing Love in a Nutshell

You can preorder from Amazon for $17.90 in hardback (or as I’ll be doing 14.99 for Kindle) to be shipped on downloaded to your Kindle in early January.
