Review/Giveaway: Penguins of Madagascar

During the school year we try to have a Family Movie Night at least once a week (though sometimes it ends up being once every 2 weeks when life is so busy), but during the summer, we have 2 or 3 movie nights a week.  It’s nice knowing that we can stay up late, cuddle and play while we watch a movie, and then sleep in the next morning if we stayed up too late.

When I received an email from MomSpark that I could sign up to receive a copy of the new DVD, The Penguins of Madagascar Operation: DVD Premier, my daughter was literally playing her Madagascar Game Cube game.  When she sorted out the Game Cube games a few months ago (as we no play them on the Wii and have gotten rid of the Game Cube itself), the Madagascar game was one she insisted we keep.  How ironic was it that she was playing that game when I said, “Heck yea, we want to review it and host a giveaway!” Thank you MomSpark, General Mills, and Nickelodeon.

When the movie (and other goodies..keep reading) came in, my daughter had me cracking up because she was as excited about the box of Trix we received with it as she was the movie (you would think we don’t always have cereal in the house).  We decided that night to forego our planned supper, and eat the Trix while we had Family Movie Night and watched The Penguins of Madagascar.

Included in our pack, was 2 of the toys that are currently in select General Mills Cereal, Penguin Launchers (Skipper, Rico, Kowalski, Private or King Julien.).  I probably would never have figured them out, but Cameron was launching these (we ended up with 3 as there was one in the box of Trix too) all over the house. After she taught me to do it, we even “raced” to see who could launch their penguin farther. (She won most of the time.)

Back to the movie: The movie was great!  I have always enjoyed Madagascar, but this one I think made me laugh more than any of the movies, cartoons, or games that I have watched. We literally sat and watched it without even stopping for bathroom or snack breaks.
