Review: Onlineschoolsolutions.com
As a school teacher, I’m always interested in anything educational that comes my way to review. So imagine how excited I was to receive the opportunity to review an entire school – an online school, Online School Solutions (http://onlineschoolsolutions.com), a division of KC Distance Learning. After going through the site, this is what I learned:
- Very interesting that it goes down to 3rd grade. I would have not thought of utilizing an online school for children that young.
- Great for parents that do want to home school, but maybe don’t know where to really start with educating their children at each grade level.
- Great idea that you can do an entire grade or course by course. If I was homeschooling, my daughter, I’d be able to teach her everything but Science, I think. Would be very nice to have somewhere to turn where I would know she was still learning what she should be in this area.
- FREE! You heard me. In Texas (not sure what other states), there is the availability of free public school courses for grades 3- 8 depending on which school district you live in.
- I only have one daughter that could benefit from this, but if you have more, they offer a family discount for multiple children enrolling in classes
- Once you get to the high school level, there are electives and advanced classes (a great plus for home schooled teens).
- Payment plans are available for those that might find the courses a financial hardship.
- Military discounts are also available, and what a great resource this would be for military families. This would give children some consistency versus moving every few years to a new school.
- This would be a great opportunity for students enrolled in public school as well. If their school would grant them credit, they could take credit recovery classes or take classes that they are interested in, but are not available at their school. I teach in a small high school (less than 100 students combined in grades 9 -12) which means that we only offer so many courses. Even if your child’s school wouldn’t take the credit, you could submit the transcript to their college (and they’d be much more prepared for college courses).
