Pirates Vs Ninjas Dodge Ball
After showing you this video clip of the game Pirates vs Ninjas Dodgeball, I was honored to be selected to be a part of a review for this game by Role Mommy and SouthPeak Games. This game was a blast, but a little more violent than games we typically purchase, thus it’s 10+ rating I guess.
When the game begins you choose how many players (up to 4), your character, your team (Pirates, Ninjas, Mushroom Men, Aliens, Robots, Zombies, Monsters) and where you want this battle to take place. You then choose do you want to play Dodge Ball or Dodge Brawl – obviously Dodge Brawl is a little more intense while Dodge Ball is probably more like what you played in elementary and middle school (just not with these characters).
As with most Wii games, this game involves getting off the couch and burning some calories (and I love that). You throw the ball by “throwing” your remote (make sure that wrist strap is on!), but after this I found it a little more difficult to master. This was like the wrestling games on previous game systems, where if you want to really be successful, you have to learn these secret moves and such. My teenager and her friends picked it right up and loved it. My brothers have even been by and tried it out and they wanted to take it so I’m sure it was just me in that I like games to be a little more easy (yes, I’m old!)
Because of the violence, I haven’t let Cameron (she’s
play this one or really watch it much so I’m not sure how her age would react to learning the special plays.
According to the press release:
Who would win a fight between pirates and ninjas? It’s a tough question to answer and is a pop culture phenomenon that has generated YouTube videos, books, thousands of online postings and entire online communities in a rivalry that’s shown no sign of being settled…until now! Pirates vs. Ninjas Dodgeball for Wii™ was developed by Blazing Lizard to offer players the opportunity to settle this debate on the dodgeball court.
“The aim was to create a fun and exciting game for Wii™ which made the most of this rivalry in an energetic game that makes perfect use of Wii’s unique controls,” says Richard Iggo, VP Marketing of SouthPeak Interactive. “Pirates vs. Ninjas Dodgeball is unlike any other game currently available on Wii and delivers a brilliant single player game that really comes alive when your friends and family join in.”
Overall I thought the game had great graphics and was fast moving requiring lots of coordination and attention by the players. However, I do think this game was meant more for teens (my teen is happy) than us Moms or younger siblings.
