Preparing to Cruise
We are just 100 days from our first ever cruise – a Disney Cruise. As we make preparations, one of the things were are doing is going through luggage to ensure that we all have 2 checked bags (thanks SW for free baggage) in good repair. I invested in a “pretty” set of themed luggage several years ago, and after it’s FIRST Trip, it came home missing a wheel. Yes, it’s really hard to manipulate a big suitcase through the airport (well actually 2) when one is missing a wheel!.. UGH! I ended up replacing that suitcase last summer with the cheapest set I could get my hands on. It’s still ok, but it’s a small set and as a family of 3 girls, we tend to fill up everyone of our suitcases and have them at 49.5 pounds.
So I’m investigating luggage options and found Titan luggage that looks really durable. I’ve looked at many suitcases, and I’m trying to decide if it’s worth it to pay for “durable” or “tough” luggage. Will it survive the airline beating?

Wow, I can’t believe your cruise is almost here! I’d say that “name” luggage is definately worth it-I once bought a cheap Target suitcase to replace a suitcase that lost a wheel on the flight down-it didn’t even make it make up!
I’ve had good luck with my Atlantic, American Airlines (the irony that I would need to pay to check my “American Airlines” suitcaseis not lost on me), and LL Bean luggage. I’ve also had good luck with my Samsonite-I have a duffle, but my mom got a set of their spinners at BJ’s and loves it-she says it’s nice to be able to push (vs. pull) in customs lines.
Thanks for the tips. I am thinking that I might “suffer” through with my cheaper luggage (if possible after we inspect them) this year and get Becka a good set as part of her vacation/graduation trip so that it would last her “forever” and then get me a set for our next vacation and Cameron one for the next…that way over the next three years or so we’d all end up with good luggage, but I wouldn’t have the expense of buying 3 sets in the next 3 months.
