Summer Fitness – Day 6

Summer Fitness – Day 6

Yesterday was back on track for fitness and a little better eating habits. Let’s start with my food: I started another morning with a bowl of Special K. I’d rather have eggs, but that would require a trip to the grocery store. LOL   For lunch, I had a chocolate Slim Fast shake. For a mid day snack, I had a bowl of sugar-free jello.  And we finished out uur day with dinner -  we had baked … Read entire article »

Review/Giveaway: Nature Made SAM-e

Everyone knows someone that they think is always in a good good, but the reality is that none of us can be in a good mood all the time. Recently, thanks to Mom Central, I was given the  chance to try a product that “promotes a healthy mood by ensuring a balance of overall healthy brain cell functions.”  What is that product? Nature Made SAM-e Complete.  I was sent a 3 month supply and just started taking them. (I’ll post again when I’ve taken them long enough to fill the results, but wanted to post now because THERE’S A CONTEST INVOLVED!).  In just the few days (6 to be exact) that I’ve started taking them, I’ve been trying to notice if I feel any different yet. What are the benefits of SAM-e? … Read entire article »

Giveaway to Promote Movement!

May was Arthritis Month, but in reality this is something we should be aware of all year long. The Arthritis Foundation and the Ad Council’s are launching a new campaign to create public awareness of easy and fun steps everyone can take to prevent and decrease the pain and disability of osteoarthritis.  Osteoarthritis dates back to the Ice Age and now some 27 million Americans live with it. But even after all those years, there is no cure and no definitive cause has been discovered. But you can make moves to make the pain and uncomfortableness more manageable. How? MOVE! Yes.  That’s the main objective of the new campaign. You’ve probably seen one of the commercials. This is my favorite: If you (or anyone you know) … Read entire article »

Holidays Means Weight Gain?

In my world, Thanksgiving is the beginning of eating, eating, and more eating..between faculty parties, family get togethers, PTSO feeding us, and friend get togethers, it seems that every time I turn around is a super duper meal. And I don’t turn away good food – Nope, not me, NEVER!  This is the time of year when I bet search terms such as best way to lose belly fat ” probably grow mega in popularity. At least around here it does. I’m already planning to start a new exercise routine and maybe even a detox a couple days next week. Here’s to not gaining too much weight over the next month! … Read entire article »

When All Else Fails

When all else fails, do you turn to slimming pills? I haven’t decided yet. I’m against medication across the board really. I don’t even take Tylenol for headaches until they are unbearable. So taking medication for anything is hard for me, but then I keep looking at the lack of results of everything I’ve tried in the past and I’m not so confident anymore. I’m going to give these 10 Minute Workouts a try though before I decide on a new plan of attack. … Read entire article »

Exercise – More Energy?

I’ve heard over and over that if you start exercising, you’ll have more energy. So my question is how do you start exercising when you have NO ENERGY?  My solution? I can’t afford, nor do I have room for, any type of fitness equipment which would be my preferred way of working out so I’m going to try the 10 Minute Workout series.  I’ve set up several in my Netflix Que and hope to find a couple that I’ll enjoy. If I can just incorporate 10 minutes each morning into my routine, would that help? I’m not sure, but I plan to find out. I’ll let you know. … Read entire article »

Illness = Exhaustion = Weight Gain

When I actually had the flu, I did avoid eating almost anything, but then there’s been the weeks of exhaustion afterwards.  That has resulted in me exercising even less than normally.  And less movement means more weight.  I’ve got two options – fight it with some of the best weight loss supplements out there or find ways to be more healthy.  I’ve started taking a multivitamin every morning, drinking less soda and more water and juice.  I think it’s working. I’m almost caught up and back on top of things at work and today I started the email battle. Baby steps I guess? … Read entire article »

Apologies

Have a few short posts tonight and hopefully will be back full time by the end of the week. I wrote a little more on my personal blog if you are interested, but we were hit with the flu, and it actually wasn’t that bad. It’s been the recovery and catch up that has been hard for me.  First there were the lingering symptoms – fever, cough, and EXHAUSTION.  That’s the one that’s been the worst – being tired 24 – 7. No matter if I got 5 hours sleep at night or almost 12 straight hours, I was still exhausted. I thought of trying a weight loss pill as those always seem to have some type of energy ingredient as well. Yes…it’s been that bad.  I do have winners to pull … Read entire article »

Working and Exercise is WORKING!

In the last 2 weeks, I’ve lost 6 pounds.  I’m so excited.  The only down side to me routine….I’m exhausted ALL THE TIME at home so I’m getting little blogging and lesson plans done.   Today I took the day “off.”  Why? Because I had a teacher workshop to go to.  That’s kind of sad when going to a workshop in the summer is a day off, huh?  LOL  While I should have been paying attention today I was going through emails as they too had piled up OF COURSE and I had one on Stimerex ES. I had never heard of it so I went to check it out.  I usually am so tempted and interested in reading about any diet supplement, but this time even though I read a … Read entire article »

It’s Summer Time!!

Yep.  I’ve been not posting (I know, I know), but it’s now summer time.  Maybe it won’t be “officially” summer for 3 more weeks, but once school is out, we consider it summer at my house. I’ve had 2 pool naps since Friday – that’s summer!  We’ve cooked more outside than in – that’s summer!  Cameron is signed up for the summer reading program as well as dance and twirling – that’s summer.  The house is getting cleaned room by room, top to bottom – that ‘s summer, and I dn’t like my weight and have to do something about it – that’s summer.  I’ve been looking at some different exercise videos and I think I’ve got a plan for daily exercise … Read entire article »

End of the School Year

As the school year ends, we’re starting to get the paperwork and stuff to make decisions for next year.  I signed up this week to downgrade to our cheapest health insurance plan.  I’ve been paying close to $500 a month for the last two years.  And in those two years, we’ve made one small doctor’s office claim – that’s it!  I decided it just wasn’t smart to keep paying this much.  I’m just hoping this doesn’t jinx us and cause us to have a year of health issues this year. They’ve also been around trying to sale other types of insurance – long term care, disability insurance, credit watch stuff, and on and on and on. I’ve watched a lot of people trying to make these decisions on these extras, and … Read entire article »

State of Texas Shuts Down Interscholastic Competitions

The Swine Flu has hit Texas – BIG! Not with infections, but with numbers. The University Interscholastic League (UIL), the head of athletic, music, and academic competitions in Texas, has issued instructions that all competitions are to be put to an immediate halt.  This was the announcement I received today from UIL.   Our baseball season is close to an end – only one more game, and we can’t complete the season until May 11th.  Track Regional Competition – postponed with no date set yet.  Academic state – postponed with no date set yet.  This is HUGE!  I feel totally taken by surprise.  I’m glad that our leaders are being cautious, but I’m wondering if it’s too cautious.  We have one game left – ONE.  *sigh* Oh well. I guess … Read entire article »
