I Did Something Right

Do you have those moments as a parent? Everyone should from time to time. I frequently question my judgement – should I have let her do that? Should I have bought this? Or not bought that?  Should I have made her study more? less?  But this past weekend, I realized I’ve done one thing right – in fact I’ve done it better than right – I’ve done it perfect.  I’ve created a lifelong bond between my girls. With the age difference, it’s always been interesting to watch Cameron (10) and Becka (19) interact.  If you read regularly, you know that Becka left for college 6 hours away this past summer and has now completed her first semester. She came in last Friday, and we are both so excited to have her … Read entire article »

The TV Has Arrived

We moved my daughter Saturday to Corpus for college, and I think I mentioned previously that my youngest was getting a new tv because I let her older sister take her tv to put in her living room.  I ordered my younger daughter a new television, but it wasn’t in by Saturday. Since Saturday she’s had to go to sleep in her room with no television, and I never realized how tramautic this was for her. She has not been happy.  The first night, she put her portable television in her log beds with her. But the second night she couldn’t find the charger for the portable dvd player so the last few nights she’s placed her ipod touch on her pillow and let it play her favorite Disney music.  … Read entire article »

The Latest “Gift”

Anytime Cameron goes out with any of her grandparents, she always comes home with some speical “gift” they gave her.  I always feel so “lucky.”  The things that I talk her out of? They buy without hesitation….really too immature for her? she’ll only play with it for a week? Doesn’t matter when you’re out with grandparents, right?  The latest “gift”?  A keyboard.  Yea….because she just really needed one.  Now does she know how to play piano? Of course not. Does she want to take lessons? NOPE!  She just wants a keyboard.  Yea.  The good news? Parenting Necessity: CoverPlugs

All of you Mom’s have been there – trying to pull out those plug covers with your fingernails (or lack therof in my case). They always fit in real tight, but then when I needed to plug something in, it was a pain in the you know what to get that cover out and use the outlet. However, they actually seemed to get my daughter’s attention more than just the normal plug, and she was much better at getting them out than I was. But that was before CoverPlugs. Yes, these are still outlet covers, but they are so much better than those little round things I used when Cameron was a baby. Check them out. They cover the entire outlet, and you can … Read entire article »
