Holiday Recommendation: Zillionz Talking Cash Register

Holiday Recommendation: Zillionz Talking Cash Register

As I have mentioned before, I’m all about imaginative play (versus sitting in front of the television or a game system).  My daughter is probably considered too old for many of her toys by others, but because I’ve always encouraged creative play, I think she still enjoys many toys that require her imagination that other tweens wouldn’t look twice at if they were making a wish list. She loves to play kitchen and shopping when her … Read entire article »

Holiday Recommendations: Backyard Safari Butterfly Habit

Holiday Recommendations: Backyard Safari Butterfly Habit

When my daughter was in the 4th grade, they learned the life cycle of a butterfly and the entire class raised butterflies. This is something that has stuck in her head for another year. She frequently talks about butterflies, catepillars, or some other lesson she learned during this unit, so I thought this would make a great holiday gift this year and recommend it for the hard to shop for or curious tween on your … Read entire article »

HandTrux Sand Sculpture Contest 2011

Are you going to the beach (or even the lake) this summer?  Or maybe you already have?  Does your family enjoy building sand castles? My daughter loves to build sand castles.  When she was little, she’d even try to build them inn her sandbox in our yard. The creators of HandTrux Toys are hosting a sandcastle contest now through September 30, 2011. The Grand Prize is a $50 US Savings Bond (1 per age group), plus … Read entire article »

As Seen on TV: Glow Crazy Distance Doodler

As Seen on TV: Glow Crazy Distance Doodler

My daughter loves arts and crafts. Whether it be a coloring pad, doodling pad, beads for necklaces and bracelets, making birdhouses or treasure boxes, Cameron just loves to be creative. When we received the Glow Crazy Distance Doodler, I knew before I even showed it to her that she was going to be ecstatic. And ecstatic she was. It was like I had bought her the most amazing treasure out there. What is the Glow Crazy … Read entire article »

Review: Caring Corners Daisy Greenway Interactive Camper

With the holiday season fast approaching, you are probably looking for unique ideas for the little ones on your list.  As my daughter gets older, I find that I have a harder time buying for our younger children on our list. One of my best friends has a daughter that is younger and when we have the opportunity to review a new toy that Cameron thinks might be “too young” for her. When we received our Caring Corners Daisy Greenway, I immediately thought that I knew just who would like to help me with this review, and I made the phone call, and we scheduled a playdate. She was so excited because not only did we receive camper, but she also got the chance to play with 2 accessories – the … Read entire article »

A Camera for Your Little One

I was recently given the chance by Team Mom and Parents Magazine to review a great little toy that would make a great stocking stuffer. It is the Look At Me Camera. According to the press release from Parents Magazine: If there’s one thing toddlers love, it’s imitating grownups – pretending is how little ones make sense of the world around them. The ultimate in imaginary play, this sleek, “just-like-mom’s” camera takes a whole new approach to hamming it up: a realistic shutter sound offers endless fun for a pint-sized photographer while a big fish-eye mirrored lens on the front of the camera engages friends lucky enough to be the subject. This camera said it was safe for 12 months and older so I immediately knew the little girl I … Read entire article »

Bubbles, Bubbles

We had the great opportunity this past week to try out some fun new water toys thanks to Team Mom, Kid Kleen, Aquadoodle, and Spin Master. The one that proved to be the most enjoyable for Cameron (and Mom) was the Kid Kleen Bath Blizzard. This was a blast. What is the Bath Blizzard? It is a bubble machine for your bath tub. It sticks to the side of your tub and with little effort, you end up with a bath tub FULL of bubbles! The first thiing I noticed on the review sheet that I was given was that these water toys are meant for preschoolers. At 8, I was worried that Cameron might be too old for this product, but … Read entire article »

Our New Toy

Some of my earliest childhood television moments are of watching Sesame Street. We had one of those “old time” antennas, and we only picked up one station with it. However, my dad worked at Sears, and they had cable. So he would take VHS tapes with him to work and record kid friendly television for me and bring it home. My favorites were the Fraggles and Sesame Street. I was super excited when I received a package from Team Mom and opened it up to find a K’Next Elmo and His Piana Building Set. Sad for me, it was a little young for Cameron, but I would not be deterred. I ripped right in it and played with it myself (shh! don’t tell anyone … Read entire article »
